[[Crossroads]]

I've been contemplating whether or not to take up higher studies in recent days.

Thing is, I've been thinking, without a reputable degree of some sort it will be very hard to compete with others on a level playing field in the corporate world.

If I had a degree, I'd land the better jobs, generally speaking. If I had a degree, people don't write me off as easily as they do when there's no notable qualifications on my resume. If I had a degree, my words would carry more weight.

If I had a degree, it'd be much easier to find acceptance and employment overseas. If I had a degree, I'd be able to look at employers and fellow graduates in the eye and talk to them without feeling inferior.

If I had a degree, I won't have to put up with subtle, sarcastic comments passed by conceited family and friends. Oh yes, family and friends. Just when you thought they wouldn't hurt.

I could go on.

There's just so many benefits to getting a degree. Increased self-confidence, increased self-esteem. You know, that sorta thing.

I don't really agree with the ways of the world, looking at academic qualifications with utmost priority, for there are other factors which I consider to be far more important. But this is the way the world operates these days, and like they say, you have to join them to beat them.

That's why insiders, not our enemies, are the most dangerous. Haha.

[[Dreaming]]

I've been dreaming a lot these days. Dreaming about how it could have been if I had taken on the job in Melbourne permanently. Dreaming about the beaches and the sand. Dreaming about trees and hills. Dreaming about how much I enjoyed it while I was there.

I'm dreaming about everything that made my two-month stint there absolutely fantastic and about how I'd do it all over again if I could.

I'm dreaming about what I could be doing if I was there right now. Maybe taking in the cool, crisp air while I enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee at a laid-back cafe.

I'm dreaming about how people say our bodies may be here, but our minds' at someplace else.

Also I'm dreaming about being rich. Then I could go there on holiday for a long, long time. Or take up a two or three year degree course there with absolutely no monetary concerns.

Or say, if I knew maybe, Kevin Rudd, then getting permanent residence there would be that much easier. That would work too.

And I'm dreaming how I'd attest to enjoying every moment of harbouring such self-indulgent thoughts in my mind right now. Ha!
